Mercèdes E. Ratthé discovered her love for music at an early age, laying the foundation for a lifelong devotion to the violin. She began her formal classical training at age 15 under private instruction and has since refined her artistry with renowned pedagogues, currently working with distinguished violinist and performance coach Kevin A. Lefohn.

An active orchestral and chamber musician, Mercèdes deeply values the collaborative spirit of ensemble performances. Her international presence includes an invitation to the 2026 Cremona Summer Academy & Festival in Italy, where she performed and received coaching from world-acclaimed instructors.

In 2025, she joined the Junior Orchestra of Yamhill County (JOY) program as an assistant teaching artist before earning a promotion to violin teaching artist later that year.

As an educator, Mercèdes brings a unique philosophy to her work; standing on the foundation and viewpoint of her studio name and definition, Ricochet, she believes that Every student enters a classroom from a distinct vantage point—bringing their own background, strengths, and unseen hurdles.
